Fractal fronds

This photo was a grab-shot at the entrance to London Zoo last week.
The well-defined, green and fractal-like leaves stood out from the usual vegetation.

Summer cone

I liked the compact, dense look to this pine cone.
I'm sure there are many different varieties of pine (and cone) but I seem to see more of them later in the year after they've fallen.
I also think about the tasty pine kernels when I see these, although I don't know exactly where (within the cone) they are.
